Also do we expect CX to order the A380 as well when everything went back to normal for Airbus. i dont think CX will order the A350 anytime soon since Airbus hasnt even design the plane yet. But I hope CX will order the B787 soon

Cathay will probably order the B787 sometime next year to replace the Airbus A330.

Although Cathay is interested in the B747-8 I doubt they'll buy it.
I say this because the T7 can operate the routes they can serve with greater efficiency.

If they order B787 they could reduce there fleet size by 2.
They'll probably just buy the B747-8F instead of the B747-8i

I am sure they are negotiating still with Boeing. The 787 is doing well and the major Asian carriers (ANA, JAL, SIA, KAL, and airlines in China) have ordered it. I would not be surprised if Cathay Pacific follows suit. If they do order it though, they may have to wait awhile since the slots are filling up quickly. I thought they might go with the A350 before the project was delayed because CX does operate the A330 and I think flying the A350 will be somewhat similar to the A330.

As for the 747-8, I think they are interested because they already operate the 747-400. As someone said earlier the 777 is more fuel efficient. However some people feel safer flying in a 4 engine aircraft versus a 2 engine aircraft. I heard that both CX and BA are interested in the 747-8.

Hmm, it can vary.

Here are some of my thoughts:

-When they announce a fleet renewal for their early A330s, 777-200s and 747-400s

-When the US signs a new kind of bilateral/trade agreement with China/H.K

-When the Swire Group orders some, or when proven legacy carrier such as American or British Airways orders it.

cheers
