yes you can...my husband was in the navy for 8 long years...transferred over to USCG 2 years ago...he had to go to a "refresher" type boot camp where it was only about 6 weeks long and you learn about USCG things....my husband said it was the best transfer he ever did...he got to keep his rate, rank, and all his medals....

You can if you have an honorable discharge. But here's a little bit of a fact from a current sailor.
Navy to Air Force enlisment change won't work, the Air Force more than likely won't accept you.
Navy to Army, if you are a second class petty officer or higher with a good level of military knowledge you can become an warrant officer, but watch out the Army likes to change the deal just at the last moment and screw you over into not getting to do what you want.
Navy to Marine Corps you loose 2 paygrades and have to go through basic training.
The Navy's not so bad a place to be, but the Coast Guard will accept you and since we share the same ranking structures and everything (right down to the clothing) there really isn't much difference just the name of the military orginization. I say stay Navy, but thats just me.

Yes you can, but why change branches? I knew guys that were in the Navy and switched over to the Army. Seems they lost more than they gained. Same with a Marine friend that switched to the Army. You don't really gain as much as you lose.

difficult at best, impossible at worst. The CG takes VERY few prior service personnel at any given time.
In any event, you would have to complete your entire first term of enlistment in the Navy before attempting to make the jump to another service.. and that's anywhere from 4-6 years.

It is possible, but the Coast Guard is small and might not be taking many enlistments at the time you are trying to get into it.

You certainly can, provided you are honorably discharged from the Navy and meet other pre-conditions for enlistment, such as age, etc.
