i found an old jar of gold paint in my grandmothers house after she died. the gold stuff in the jar sinks to the bottom of the jar. the jar of paint is about 90% full.
it is "Star Brand" paint.

No - it is probably just some gold colored metallic flakes and could be lead based. Take it to a recycler or put it out if the city has a toxic material pick up day.

You can always sent a sample to be tested. but I have to warn you that odds are there is lead in the paint from the era. If you are unsure about the lead you can get a lead testing kit to determine that.

I don't know about gold but there's probably lead in it. Don't use it. Take it to the dump for proper disposal.
