I want to know the possible cause of this, and how I can help it to feel better. I had a bad cold beginning with a wet cough on Nov. 10th. One day, I woke up with lower back pains that have steadily worsened. Usually, by the end of the day, it loosens up a bit, but still hurts.

The pain increases when I bend forward, or when I walk (usually when my heel is stretched out). It was worse than ever this morning, where I get a severe, stretching pain in my lower back when I bend my head down.

What could the possible causes of this be and treatment options? Thank you!

Treatment options are critical at this point.. You apparently have a structural problem (even at your young age), perhaps familial or congenital. Is something quite routinely seen, in the doctor of Chiropractic office.

It appears to be involving the sciatic nerve. You don't want it to grow into a full blown sciatica..as it is much worse than what you are experiencing at the moment. Suggest you take care of is asap.. as it will only progress..as the inflammatory process is already evident.

Been there, done that!!

Lower back pain can be a real drag. I know because I sufffer with it. About 3 months ago though it got worse when I gave the kids I was working with a piggy back ride. About a month after the pain started I was sent for an MRI and learned that I had a herniated disc. Please go to the doctor and do not wait too long. It could be anything or nothing but you should know early so that you can get treatment if needed. Take care. Sit up straight, bend at the knees rather that at the hip, lie flat on your back when lying down. put a board under your bed. Use ice to begin then use a heating pad but not for long and most importantly until you know for sure do not lift anything heavy. Bye.

If you have been having this pain for 2 weeks or longer more than likely you have a sinus infection. You will have to see your doctor about some antibiotics to kill the infection. If the pain persisted when you coughed or sneezed I would have told you something like Sudafed or Tylenol Cold would have helped but you said it persists when you bend over. Normally if the sinuses are just clogged bending over would relieve the pressure.

To be honest you need to see a Dr. you could have strained a muscle in your lower back from the coughing depending on how bad it was. If you can't see a dr. then take some advil something with ibprofin that will help with any swelling in your back.Try and stay off your feet and try heating pad be careful not to burn yourself with it....Good luck hope you feel better soon..

I just recovered 20 days back from back pain.In my case I strained a bit while lifting somethig. In your case try to remember if you did anything like that.Take an X-ray to rule out disk problems.Back pain can also come due to wrong postures while sleeping. While I was having my back pain I too had heavy coughing.Got good releif from cough syrrup.
coughing sends out shooting pain to the spinal chord.I tried hot shower and got good releif.had to take pain killer for 15 days.along with a muscle relaxing tablet.I coped up for 20days and it went away onits own.
If you can take bed rest for 5 days it will go faster.

I don't think coughing caused this but it sounds like regardless if it did or didn't, you need to go see a doctor. Back pain is not something to ignore.
