A refraction test is an eye test that you normally have an an optometrist or ophthalmologist's office, that measures a person's ability to see objects at different distances (to tell if you may be short or longsighted, or have astigmatism for example).

If you have ever had an eye test you may remember being asked to sit and look through a refractor at a wall chart while different lenses are placed in front of your eyes and the optometrist asking you if your vision was better or worse through each lens.
