no. they will like be more dependent on you. i think referring them and their parents to welfare organisation is a better way to help them in a long run. :)

Children should not be on the streets! Do as your heart tells you in the moment. I read some of the other responses and yes it is always good to give.... but cash may not be the best gift! Refer them to a local church, shelter, or other help organization if they truely wanted "help" they will find it there. If they are not ready for it they will just ignore you and move on to someone else. If you do feel compelled to give them something... offer to take them across the street to the local cafe or McDonalds ... you'll be suprised how many will no longer be hungry... and the few that will take you up on the offer ... you now have the chance to refer them to the church, shelter, or what ever type of help is available in your city. Be careful though because it is sad to say but there may be a dangerous one or two in the crowd that will go will you to see how much cash you have and then try to jump you. Listen to your heart and ask for guidance. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS no one can tell you what is right or wrong because there are so many variables and what is right with one child will not be right with the next. Good Luck and God Bless!

I think giving children money is always good. You don't know for sure where they're coming from. If they are being abused they'll be abused more if they don't bring anything home. If they're not being abused you may have helped a child eat for the first time in days. Either case, it's always better to give then not because that child could be an angel just making sure that you're doing your part to help make the world a little better.

I found it a little surprising to hear that most of the kids you see on the street are asking for money. What city do you live in? It reminds me of Rome, or Izmir, or a few other places I've been. It makes a difference, because you're right, in some areas the kids are getting money for their parents, in others the parents just send 'em to the city to get rid of a mouth to feed.
If it's for the kid, I would first take him to a place to get some food. Then, when he has something to eat, see how he acts. If he seems to understand that getting things is not just the standard of his life (I mean he seems grateful and not like he expects it) then I would give him some more money.

Unfortunately, it's true that the children are most likely being "pimped" by someone else, possibly parents. However, it's still their means to survival. It may be the only way they receive anything> a place to sleep, food(hot meal or not), clothing. They may not have any say so in how the money is spent, but that is their world. All you can do is help and pray for the best outcome of that help.

On my my own point of view it is quite good, but the point there is if i were rich i would prefer taking them home or seting up a small business that could change there life from being a begger. Because some of those kids that wre found on the street were sent away by there parent or by one thing or the other so if one is giving them money he has not done anything wrong

I would not give money to a person on the street because there is no way to know if you are hurting or helping that person. We all need the same things to survive. I would give them food, clothes, coats, blankets and addresses to shelters and Church's that may be able to help them more. But I would give them something. I just don't think money is the answer.

If you have a problem giving them money, then give them food or clothes. I'm sure anything would be appreciated. I can't imagine sitting there with all my stuff and those poor children have nothing. I would have to share. If you don't agree then maybe you would like to move to Northern Va USA, where it's illegal to be homeless. You would never have to see anything like that. Pretty sad wouldn't you agree? I mean these people do exist all over the world and yet they still suffer every day. Funny, if the rich would reach a little deeper and give to others instead of their credit card companies, then this problem would be abolished. Thank you.

Yes and No!! I believe if you really want to help them there are other ways to help them succeed. For instance if they are hungry, buy them a meal or give them a bag of food. You could try befriending them, give them support, offer them resources to help them better their selves and be a positive member of society. This goes for the adults on the streets doing the same thing. As for the kids out there on the streets theses are just some of the things we can do to help intervene and stop the cycle. Before they become those adults still out there!

I would only hope that the child would say if they are being abuse. I would give that child money if I have it.I would have to let god take care of that situation one way or another. The child can use the money to get away maybe get help.I don't know but I can hardly ever say no to children in need.Hopefully I wont see a child getting abuse.Only god knows how I will react. I don't think it be a very nice site.

if they are good kids, they will hopefully use it to get something to eat. but there are kids that use that money on drugs or just waste it.
one time a family friend of ours didnt want to pay the little kid, but he kept following him. so he finally asked the kid what he would do with the money if he was to give him some. the little kid said i would buy school supplies to go to school. so our good friend went to the store and bought him the basic school supplies. the little kid thanked him and left in the opposite direction. our friend watched him as the little kid hurriedly went back to the store. returned the supplies and left with the money.
so from personal experience i suggest you dont give money to children on the streets. who knows where the money goes. most of the time it doesnt end up in the right place.
so more times than not, you are helping them get drugs which only end up hurting them in the end
you can find other ways to use your money. such as donating to a local charity that helps the homeless or other things of the sort
