First and foremost, the delivery charge is NOT paid to the delivery guys. They work for the company and get paid but they get hourly rates. I have in the past tipped the guys who deliver furniture or appliances. I trip according to the work load. If they deliver a washer and dryer it is done within ten or fifteen minutes. I'll give each guy (two) a ten dollar bill. If they are delivering a living room set this takes more time as they have to be somewhat more care-full. This being I'd tip them a little more. Maybe fifteen or twenty each. Keep in mind what I can afford you might not be able to. So go with what you can afford. Like if you can only afford 5 dollars to each one then tell them, Listen I am not trying to insult you but this is all I can afford. They will appreciate it.

I usually tip the delivery guys $20 each, especially if it requires assembly and removal of multiple layers of padding, etc. I have never had a rude delivery guy who would toss my furniture around...but I think that would be the only exception to NOT tip. Otherwise, these guys are probably not making a ton of money. The delivery charge that companies charge their customers do not go to the delivery guys. They go to the maintenance or rental of the trucks.
Ultimately, of course, how much you tip is up to what you can afford.

RE:
Do you tip the furniture delivery people?
Stupid quesiton. I am having some furniture delivered to my place today. The store charged me $150 for delivery. Do I still tip the guys who deliver it? If so, what is the standard?

No. The delivery charges are already included in your total cost of the product. In many countries it is even considered rude to tip.
Anyway, you are not supposed to tip the delivery boy.

Not only should you tip them $15-$20 each, you should let them know in advance that there is a tip in it for them if they don't damage anything. They will go the extra mile for you. Wouldn't hurt to have some bottled water for them, too.

I tried to tip a guy who delivered 5000 pounds of wood for our floors, but he was insulted and said it wasn't professional to tip him. It took him two hours and LOTS of heavy lifting to unload the wood from his truck. Hopefully his company pays him well.
