If man is in total control of his future, then he should at least be in control of his own body. Instead, he is subject to involuntary yawning, sneezing, breathing, swallowing, sleeping, salivating, dreaming, blinking, and thinking. He can’t even control hair and nail growth. He automatically does these things, irrespective of his will. God has set his body in motion and there is little he can do about it. He also has minimal control over his daily bodily functions. His kidneys, bladder, intestines, heart, liver, lungs, etc., work independently of his will. It is ludicrous to say that man controls his future when he has trouble predicting the stock market, political outcomes, earthquakes, and even the weather, let alone having control over these things.

Think about it and give me your opinion.

These things are all part of being human. This world isn't our reward, it's our testing ground. Someday we are promised incorruptible bodies if we believe in Christ. Let's focus on that instead.

A body is a complex machine of tissues, organs, cells. Most of these things operate on an unconcious level. This isn't proof that God has made the body and told it what to do, just that over the years, they have become automatic responses to different stimuli. Evolution. In my opinion a man is indeed in complete control of his destiney. The ability to make predictions has nothing to do with this, as guessing is not the same as shaping your future or controlling your actions, or working toward a goal.

I don't buy it. Animals do all of the things that you describe yet they still follow their instincts to eat, procreate, and sleep, and I see no sign that god is controlling every motion they make.

You are playing word games with voluntary and involuntary reactions.

The human body does certain things so we can survive, and have a decent life.
Your eternal destiny is decided by the choices you make every second of your life, especially the last few. And since we do not know when our life will end every decision may be your last.

You are right. No man will ever have total control over his destiny, only God Has.

The paths fork and divide. With each step you take through Destiny's garden, you make a choice; and every choice determines future paths. However, at the end of a lifetime of walking you might look back, and see only one path stretching out behind you; or look ahead, and see only darkness.

Good question. I believe it has become part of our subconsciousness. All these thing we do involuntary, are like all the bells and whistles of a new car.

How wonderfully said, I never even thought about that.

These involuntary, but necessary functions only prove more and more that we are just small in comparison to our maker.

We were created in his image, we are not him!!!

How refreshing to find another intelligent human posing a question that makes you go Mmmmmmmmm. . . . . . . . .. .

everything in life is random.......humans have control over nothing except their own behavior and sometimes, not even that.

if man could choose his own destiny, he should be able to choose where he was born. since he cannot do that, man cannot be the master of his destiny.
