It depends on the vet. Our vet did it with local anesthesia, which drove the cost up a bit, but kept from hurting our dog with the huge needle. They did it on one of our other dogs when she had already been put under for some other surgery, and in that case it was only the cost of the chip. Often your local Humane Society or ASPCA will offer a clinic and do it for only a nominal fee. You should also take into account the cost of registration with whatever company produces the chip - usually between 20-50 dollars.

If you are lucky you can get it done at a microchip clinic like at the aspca or a local pet store. They range from 10-50! But worth it! Don't forget to send in the registration or the chip can't be tracked back to you. And let your local pound know the number too.

sorry if not much help. unsure if you are UK or US! anyway we charge £24.50 to get your animal identichipped. the cost is lower if done under general anesthesia (£20) i.e when being castrated/spayed. the cost does vary from surgery to surgery!
always remember to enter all your correct details when filling the form out and keep records for you self to remind you of the number in case needed.
the identichipping companies do charge to change any details i.e address change etc but well worth it and a must to do!
we have a lot of animals in that are microchipped but the owner has moved and not told the company of this. some do not go back home and defeats the object of the chip in the first place.

It cost about $45, then I had to call the microchip company and have the chip information changed to my name and address for $18.

It's a very simple procedure, prices vary by vet, anywhere from 20-60 bucks is the usual around here. Ask too if there's additional fees for registering the chip, without registration, the chip is useless.

We had our dogs implanted at the pound. It was $10 per injection and $15 to register the chip with Avid. Pretty cheap for peace of mind. Check with your local animal shelter, that way you don't have to pay for an office visit to boot.

it really varies from vet to vet and probably the state you live in. I got mine for $25. So, I would check with your vet and see what they charge. You can always call around to different vets to see what they charge.
