I want to thank you for your question. I would have never guess what I found.
Before I formulate my own words, I usually see what the English word means. Because we are in a religion and spirituality section, I consult my "reveal" knowledge source, the [Christian] bible.
There are 127 usage of the word grace in NIV and none in NLT? Yes none.
I picked Psalm 45:2 and found the Hebrew word "chn" is translated as grace in NIV and LovingFavor in NLV.
But want about the Greek word for grace, "claris"? In NLV, Luke 2:40 claris is translated as loving-favor (it takes two English words to describe this one Greek word.) Moreover in Luke, the word is followed by theos, charis theos, loving-favor of God.
Yes, I didn't use my own words, but to me, grace is loving flavor. Again, thank you for your question.

Paraphrasing the words of Elaine's boss, you can have grace, but it's not a good thing to have too much grace otherwise you won't be able to stand.
Many Christians stand fervently for this or that, but they have no grace. And where they stand tells me a lot about where they sit. Even when they say grace they don't have it. This whole issue really nags me.
On the other hand, Mr. Snoid has grace. Yet Christians are surprisingly silent about him, and dare not even discuss his teachings.

Red queen, bubba gave the best answer to "what is grace" I would add that I see four levels of awareness. Ignorance,Law,Grace & unity with God.. The ignorant are under Gods grace though they are not aware of God, the Sinner lives in a state of Grace even though he believes he has free will & is the doer.,under Grace one gives up his sense of free will, doing Gods will, even though he feels he is still the doer. Then one experiences unity with God within the heart in unconditional love. "God dwells within you as you",I am,unconditional love,i-am Grace, at some point one lets go the concept of Self separate from God and merges into the allness of God as a raindrop merges into the sea.

I stood at the lowest place in all of the great universe; high above, where I could not see, let alone go, God stood. For reasons that I will never comprehend, He sent His only Son to bring me to Him. I was so afraid because my clothes were filthy rags and I knew I could never come into the presence of a God so pure and holy. Yet a strange thing happened. Because I was with Jesus, God did not focus on my sins at all; He saw only the righteousness of Christ as He stood beside me. I came to know that Jesus took my sins upon Himself at Calvary, and truly, "the chastisement of my peace was upon Him." That is grace to me.
