Matt 6:6 reads
"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

In secret. We are to give without fan fare, and live for Jesus in everything. Here we have complete anonymity, thus making us secret.
If we declare Jesus, even without anyone knowing our name or seeing our face, we show our Jesus in secret.
There is nothing like being anonymous to allow the real you to show.

What are you showing?

I'm pretty sure what it's saying is, when yoiu're alone, let jesus be your own, but when you're with friends, share the good news.

Yes, I think you are right Mav about us showing our true selves here. I do not want to discourage people from showing their Jesus in public either though because we need more public Jesus. If we do not show a public Jesus then all we see is a public Satan.

Nice thoughts Mav!

God only wants me to boast to Him the good works that He sees me do.

Instead, I've included the verse below for other readers who might need additional direction from the verse you have shared.

Matthew 7:17
Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

A good point Mav. I try to show love. I hope I am successful. I always liked that verse. I am not Christian anymore though.

Yeah well Mr. Snoid said the same thing. And I don't hear you people talking about the teachings of Mr. Snoid. All this hypocrisy is starting to annoy me.

" I'd rather see a good sermon than hear one, " Dad said to me. This is what Dad did all his life. never tooted his own horn saying " look what I did " but rather quietly when there would be few who knew. this to me is what doing good is all about. one should not shout their good works, just do them and people will eventually notice and realize what one is doing -- emulating JESUS not for personal honor or glory but rather in spite of it.

i think they were speaking of like quiet time. ya know, just going and spending time praying and reading the bible. not like showing god to no body. i think he was just like, hey talk to me one on one some time. i miss you, kinda thing. yep. that is how i took it. hope this helps. i'm not a big guy who talks at church, i am just someone who god loves....someone like you.

please -- don't expect a dusty old cult book, full of mythology, which over 70% of the people on earth STILL REJECT after 2000 years -- to make ANY sense at all.

it doesn't and it won't.
