to any problem is to bomb some one?

There are many intelligent Americans from all sides of the political spectrum, but there seems to be a serious view that the USA military will always win any conflict and therefore the solution is always to “bomb, nuke or invade”.

Do these view really represent mainstream US thought ?

No, these views represent lazy thinking. These issues take serious thought and often require years of work to do. In a political climate, people want immediate gratification, and bombing seems like that shortcut.

Because it's worked most of the time.

I don't know what the mainstream thought is - that's what polls are for.

This answers to this question will most likely NOT provide mainstream thought - for a couple of reasons.

People who do answer this question probably have very strong feelings one way or another about the question to have chosen to answer it. I think that this is fairly obvious by from the answers.
Therefore, they probably do not constitute mainstream US thought (although they think they do - or should).

It only comprises a only a special group of people who:
1)have computers
2)who also use Yahoo
3)who also use Yahoo answers
4)Who see your question
5)Who decide to answer the question.

Since this is not a US only site but an English language site - people in the UK, Canada, etc - can also answer this as to what they think is the US mainstream thought.

No, we are all unhappy about the Iraq War. We are not all bloodthirsty people, you know. You are listening to people who just run their mouths without putting any thought into the words.Your media misrepresents us. We don't always want to invade countries. We will withdraw from Iraq, although Mr. Bush, our disorganized president will declare it a victory when it isn't. We also lost Vietnam, and we know it. Most of us don't agree with Bush, so don't always think we agree with what he says. You are also listening to people who don't want to put much thought into solving the world's problems and take the easy way out by saying we should nuke or bomb a place when they don't like it. Please don't get the wrong idea about what we are about. We are not all war loving people. People are bashing us because they view us all as Bush supporters. In fact, his approval rating is the lowest as any US President ever. We just want the wars to stop!

The American people are smart most of the time. They see the US Military as a weapon. It is probably the most powerful weapon in the world, all things considered. They know that. They also know that politicians (Americans and everyone elses) will say or do anything to get elected therefore rich. The part that frustrates most Americans is that they know that the US Military can go in and kick about anyones butt.

Think of it like you in your home with one weapon (US Military) one politician and one soldier. A group of murderers break into your home. The soldier grabs the weapon and starts killing the murderers. The politician watches until most of the murderers are dead then takes the weapon away from the soldier and tries to kill the rest ( just to look good and get reelected). Then things start to go bad. Politician can't shoot for crap doesn't know how to reload has no idea of tactics. THIS is where Americans say "just finish them off" with frustration. Don't blame them they know we can win. We just can't do it and look politically correct.

These views do not represent "mainstream US thought", just mine. Bomb them, nuke them, invade them. War is my business and business is good.

No of course not. It is just a neejerk statement based on the early post world war 2 reliance on the A-bomb to preserve peace. Worked fine until everybody got one.

you people need to stop asking for answers and start reading up on this stuff if it interests any of you.

when you see turmoil in any part of this world, it is because and most likely of it being orchestrated, people don't seem to grasp the idea of there being something els behind the scenes pulling the strings everyone sees the out side and thinks everything is fine.
the reason you don't really hear **** about Afghanistan is because the US got what it already wanted, which isn't bin laden, it was the opium fields and control of the trafficking.

i know this isn't the exact answer you were looking for but there is allot more things going on than just a bombing or invasion.

Because a small number of Americans are that extreme in their view and have no patience. I don't take them seriously, because I think they are mainly just shooting off their mouths. I am a conservative and don't believe this view represents the mainstream thought.

Of course not. We always try other solutions first. With the
possible exception of the war on terror. That has to be dealt with
immediately and harshly.

Thank you very much, while you're up!
