It depends on the kind of school you go to and which year group you belong to. First year secondary have between an hour and an hour and a half approximately on school days. Students at the top of the school have a minimum of three hours each school day and more to do at the week-end.

They get more here in Trinidad. Its an hour + half every night and my kids are only 9 and 7. In the u.k when I was at school I didnt get homework until I was 12, and then it was a couple of hours per week.

my children aged 12 and 10 get lots of homework . my 12 year old gets homework every night except wednesdays and normally a book report at weekends. my ten year old gets science homework twice a week ,maths twice a week and english at weekends to do . they are forever moaning about it . we live in hertfordshire,england

my daughter is 6 and she gets 2 pieces a week, one i a reading book and the other is a maths game, she does her homework because she wants to and i think that is nice, but i would prefer it if she had 2 or 3 books a week, as she likes reading and because of her age, they only have a few pages in, another maths game would be good to, i dont think britsh kids have enough homework

Brilliant idea. I think RE should be incorporated into Philosophy rather than seen as an alternative. Ultimately the government should make the choice (not likely). If the subject covers all viewpoints objectively then parents should have nothing to complain about. If they must indoctrinate their children they can do it at home.
