The motor nerve is the one that makes the muscle move. The sensory nerve is the one that makes you feel something. The nerve for pain is a sensory nerve.
Not all sensory nerves sense pain. Others sense temperature, pressure, movement, light (in the eye), and chemicals (as in taste and smell).
Damage to a pain nerve does not always cause pain. It may cause an inability to feel pain. This is a disadvantage, because pain allows you to know when you are being hurt, so you can do something about it.
