MRI is not for detecting leukemia.
Typically leukemia is not associated with a tumor, so an imagining study will not pick up anything. Leukemia involved the bone marrow DIFFUSELY.
MRI is not for brain and spine only! It may detect enlarge lymph nodes, which may be enlarged because of leukemia.
The PET-scan is able to detect cells with abnormal metabolism, it may be useable for leukemia.
To put it short, leukemia detection is not done by imaging studies (MRI, CT, PET, etc.). The blood and the bone marrow need to be aspirated and analysed.
