OCD is actually very common, there are many people who have it and are not diagnosed because it doesn't interfere with their lives too much. They just think they are a little "up tight" or "a worrier". Honeslty , It's not a strange occrurance at all.
I have a a freind who was just diagnoesd with OCD, a panic disorder and depression that was related ot the OCD. She was taking a prescription pill, but she did not like the way it made her feel and asked to be taken off it. Now she is seeing a therapist weekly and seems to be doing well.
I don't think my friend is any less wonderful because she has OCD. It's just part of who she is. I knew when I met her that she had some ticks but if anything that's one of the things I love about her. So don't worry :-) You are not any weirder then the rest of us. Because hey, we are all weird according to someone's definition of the word.

Yes I have OCD and a panic disorder. It fluctuates in intensity. I am a checker and a counter. If I am under alot of stress my symptoms get worse. I take Prozac and ativan which has helped alot. I am able to function fairly well and at times am symptom free. It's not weird and more people than you think have it. Some people just have a lesser degree of symptoms than others. Its more common if females and usually begins in the late teen years. Contact your local hospital they can tell you where to find a support group in your area. It will help and make you feel better knowing that your not alone. You can also get good advice from other sufferers on how to deal with the disease. I hope this helps good luck.

I have had OCD since I was about 8 years old. I am now 46. It can be a challenge to learn to live with and deal with it. You can though, I have. When I was young I always felt different, Like I was not normal. When I was young they knew nothing really about it. Now days there are wonderful treatments and medications for it. I went to therapy and took meds and I do really well. I still have OCD and always Will, I have just learned to control it better and not let it control me! I hope I have helped you some. I Will share more info with you if you would like!

Most everyone has a minor ocd, about something, in my opinion - even if it is sitting for long periods of time answering Yahoo!Answers. Some have it because acting compulsively can raise blood sugar, if it is low. So I think OCD can be linked to chronic low blood sugar.
Check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org if you are curious about how blood sugar may be linked to OCD.

yes I have OCD. dont freak, look on the bright side. many highly functioning, professional, well educated people have OCD. On the good side. it drives them to succeed and do well. It got me through college and into medical school and now I am an MD. Meds can help you to control it and not let it overwhelm your thoughts and actions. stay positive and see someone if you think you need help, it is not altogether a bad thing to have unless you are paralyzed by it
