This is human instinct coming into play here.
Its quite simple really, of course women are going to think about a lot more than guys as a woman can get pregnant and there for reduce the chances of getting better genes in her blood line, as for the male he is just sowing his seed as much as possible, so he is making a wider gene pool, this is just natures way of making sure that ones blood line is the strongest it can possibly be.
In this age though it is a little different, as we have contraceptives, so promiscuity is a little more wide spread, but it still does not stop this basic instincts that we have.
