It depends on each individual's perception, and that perception depends on the conditioning of that individual, like his/her religion, the community etc. The quality of God also differs in deifferent religions.
Say, to some God may mean the nature and doesn't do what Christian's God does. Some may refer to God as the unbinding, unconditioned and can't be explain by plain words.

Yes, God is mean to people. One of His most famous acts was what he did to Job. Funny how in that story they tell of Jobs suffering but the relatives(children) of Job that God allowed killed are barely even considered. What did they do that God allowed Satan to slay them as part of Gods bet with Satan. How come their lives did not matter to God! Why is the only thing God cares about is that Job keeps praising him. God seems pretty vain.

God is not a one size fits all type of diety. We can understand God in the context of various things...from nature to a particular religion. Is anyone wrong? NO! They are merely examining God from what they can understand...and that may change with knowledge.

To me it means that I didn`t just evolve here on a speck of dust in the vast universe but that I am a creation of God and He is my Father.
