Yes, you can have drapes AND shades! You can go for faux suede, tab drapes in black, grey, blue. I like the black. They are not feminine at all. Very tailored. However, be warned that they do attract a lot of dust! Enjoy your drapes! Godloveya.

Yes, shades are outdated as another person said. If you are worried about how masculine you apartment looks do not worry. To be honest I think drapes look more manly, because they are just a more mature and adult choice (I think shades are what you have if you can't afford anything else)
There are many styles of drapes that will make your apartment look stately. Often the are heavy and dark, but that can look great depending on your other decor. Also you can get very masculine, sophisticated hardware to hang the drapes from. Thus a combination of good fabric and hardware will ensure that you have a manly, sexy pad.

I have blinds, curtains, and drapes. The blinds can be opened & shut easily, the curtains filter the harsh incoming light, and the drapes add another layer of upholstery and heat/cold protection and can be pulled close for extra darkening on weekend mornings.
Heck, I even have black out curtains in my bedroom - also helps w/keeping out some street noise.
In other words, they all have a place in a home - the gender of the home of the homemaker isn't important.

Of course men can have drapes in their apt. This question made me chuckle. I guess if your single and dating I wouldnt go for the floral look. Stay nuetral and basic but its a nice way to bring color and patterns to a room or even tie in mix match furniture. Good Luck and have fun decorating.

depends.
if he's gay, yes.
if he's straight, stick to shudders or shades.
if he's got a girl living with him, GET THE DRAPES. You don't ever want to get your woman mad! That's a whole lot of drama for ya. Coming from a girl, you don't want her mad.
Unless she's very lenient and will let you have something other than drapes, then it's all good.

Get drapes, curtains or shutters -- shades look cheap and temporary.

curtains are usually are see-thru. drapes are usually opaque or lined. We have drapes over our blinds to cut out the daylight (west facing window).
You may try blinds if you want something different.

Men should never have drapes. And if you have blinds, leave them open - great for meeting women!
