Don't get me wrong. I know that there are members of BOTH sexes who are guilty of boasting. However, it seems that men are often the guilty parties. For example, there's a guy here who calls himself "hotguy". Also, I've known some guys who brag about their penis sizes and their bank accounts. If they were really so confident, do you think that they would feel the need to let others know how great they are? I can't help but think that if they truly thought they were so wonderful, they would also think it was self-evident and that it was unnecessary to advertise.

In most cases, yes. However, guys tend to do this among each other. There is a big one-up thing that guys do from time to time. Guys who are super hot and have it together know it and are known for it without saying a word. Males of most species tend to showboat. To an extent, I think it is a part of their wiring.

I don't believe that all are insecure that boast.

Those who have bigger or better or more of something don't as a rule have to say anything.

Some people I have known in the past really did this because they just loved the sound of their voice. Not an insecurity issue, just a blowhard.

I knew this guy one time who, no matter what the conversation concerned, would always would have to top whatever was stated. We calculated that if he had done all he said he had done, he would have had to been at least a 180 years old. And he was only 35 at the time.

I don't know the psychology of what causes this phenomenon with men or women, but truly it does exist and we just have to tolerate as best we can.

There is no real sterotype for this. Just because they're boasting doesnt mean their insecure. Some guys who have a big penis just feel the need to talk about it. This is also proven by the fact that every quite person doesnt have a huge penis either. They just might not feel that its any of your business how big their penis or bankaccount is. Either way, Each person will have a different reason for boasting, so it's not a quarantee that they are insecure.

I agree that men who boast a lot tend to be insecure. They feel that they need to boast for people to see their good points.

You would think that everyone knows about McDonalds. We know what the food is like and we know the price and service, but for some reason they spend millions of dollars on adverising. You would think it would be unnecessary to advertise wouldn't you.
