had a tat done of bottom of back a few years ago (you know the type- generic black tribal) anyway it has faded a little to dark grey and i think its time to make it more individual and improve it. was thinking of a feather/flower design twisting around it (any suggestions welcome) just want to know if this could succesfully cover parts of the existing design

john seems more right that anybody. to think excersize and then you will know what options a tattoo artist would be dealing with. take a permanent marker and draw a quick pic of your tattoo, then take other permanent markers and see what covers it up...nothing...maybe more black or wait another 10 -20 yrs when it might possible be so faded, red is one of the only colors that may make an appearance over black. putting designs like floral around it may distract the boldness of the black, but definately won't ever cover it completely.

do you want to walk around with a tattoo someone else has? (I would be so mad to see someone has copied my tattoo, so make sure you ask the person who has it if they have a problem with it!) I personally would take the designs to a good tattooist to let them see what style you like and get them design a tattoo for you there are many good artists out there that will only do custom work so you can say what you like and they will draw some custom piece for you

I'm pretty sure you could probably do color over black. The Flower/ Feather Idea is a good one. Flower Power!! lol

possibly. it all depends on exactly what you want and the talent of the artist. the best thing would be to go to an artist, who does custom tattoo work and see what they can come up with. my artist does only custom work and he is great at covering up stuff. i'm currently covering up something for me. good luck!
