Think of it this way:

In the old testement there is the story of the tower of Babel. These people built a ziggurat so high that god thought man would reach heaven so he confused their language to stop the project before they could reach him.

Today i read a question that asked something to the effect of "if we can send people into space don't you think we would have found god?" This question makes a lot of sense... if the bible claims that you can build a tower from the ground to heaven, it shouldn't be that far off the ground. However today we have sky scrapers that are much much taller than any ziggurat built in the time of the story of babel, and in fact we are sending men and machines into space and to neighboring bodies.

Shouldn't god be confusing the language of NASA? Where is this heaven he is hiding from us. Some of the answers to the question i referenced said god is in another dimension... this does not fit with scripture and in their eyes should be untrue.

God is the creation of man. Before science was able to explain why things happen, it was all blamed/attributed to god. People needed to believe that because people need to believe there is a reason for everything that happens. Now that science is more advanced and can explain more things, we have less of a need for god.

Tower of Babel is a story, an allegory about behavior and the results of it.

Go to a building job site you will find that the different divisions on the building have their own slang for different things. Let that go on long enough you end up with subcultures withing the building community.

The more I learn about the world, the better I understand the Divine.

After the Babel incident, God gathered his otherworldly belongings and moved up three floors to protect himself from the oncoming astronauts. However, this has made it difficult for him to interfere in daily Earth problems. He uses DSL, which may explain why no miracles happen anymore...

if God was not pure spiritual essence and was hiding out on Mars or Venus for example then this would be true and verifiable, but this is not the case, God unlike us, is not subject to the laws of time and space and so wherever He is then that is what we call Heaven and possibly not in our dimension at all.
the tower of Babel is testimony to human folly and the mockery of God.

I think, u r worried a lot abt what bible says. C'mon, that can't b true, reaching heaven by skyscrapers, that's all foolish. Actually thanks for lettin me know what bible's all about.
God is just an imaginary power helding all of us 2gether. Ziguraths r nothing but monasteries with god inside it. n god in another dimension - its not true man n don' break ur head on it.
Bible is said to be created after a looooooong time, after de death of Jesus n he even donno that de people r joblessly callin him de son of god n all those stuff.

Look, then more you listen to the world, the less you listen to God, and the less you listen to God the harder it is to hear Him, until finally you can no longer hear Him, and he leaves you to the strong delusion that you have chosen, over His reality. His reality brings with it eternal life, the delusion brings with it eternal death.
