Jesus is the spiritual head of the Church, and the Pope is the head of the Catholic church on earth. He is the successor of St. Peter, whom Jesus choose out of the twelve apostles to be their leader. This tradition has been passed down for 2000 years.

The Pope is the leader, for lack of a better term, of the Catholic Church. It is his job to make sure that the followers of the Catholic religion live their lives to the ideals set forth centuries ago. It is also his job to address issues that come up afffecting the Catholic faith.

I am not Catholic so I probably will miss many of the things he is responsible for but here goes...
He is responsible for the religious health and welfare of the Catholic church at large and he is the spiritual leader of the Catholic people. He answers all questions pertaining to the body of religion for the Catholics and sets the guidelines for the church and it's followers. He is a Holy father of sorts, at least and earthly one religiously speaking.

He is the Vicar of Christ, so he represents the Catholic faith. He is in charge of all the Catholic Church and decides how he can help the Church and make it stronger. He has a counsel of Cardinals that help him with his decisions and gives advice. He addresses issues that affect the church and explains the Christian faith in his writing and what he does. He is like the Representative of Catholicism.

He is the 'vicar' of Christ on earth. That means he's His representative. The visible head of the Church. In matters of faith and morals, he can tell us the mind of God.

The Pope's "job" is to do what Jesus told Peter to do:

"Feed my lambs."
"Tend my sheep."
"Feed my sheep."

The Pope is the head of the ONE Church established by Jesus.

Jesus is the Head of His Church, which is His Body.

The Pope is His 'vicar' until Jesus returns. The Pope holds the Keys until Jesus returns. The Pope is the visible head of the Church.

Jesus said: "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."

BTW.... there is only ONE Church and the Sacrament of Baptism brings you into that ONE Church. So if you are Baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, then you are part of the ONE Church and the Pope is your spritual leader too.

Will you receive the Vicar of Christ or will you reject him?

He's in charge of the book that lists the molesters and how to keep them in line.

He's like the Queen of England - a figure head that stands around and looks nice and waives.
