It'll be fine. However the guideline for wine snobs is don't leave an unopened bottle of champagne in the fridge for over 2 months. They claim it "changes" the bubbly. I don't really care about the rules...I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge since February. I'll still drink it whenever I feel like opening it up.

Opening. Do not shake. There is a lot of pressure in that little bottle. Pull off the foil. Make sure you do not direct the bottle towards anyone or yourself. Untwist the cage covering the cork. You can pull it off and replace your thumb over it or you can leave it on. Put a towel over the cork. Slowly twist the BOTTLE not the cork. You should hear a poof when the cork is released. You do not want a loud pop. Remember to do it slowly. Good luck.

The reason "winesnobs" say not to leave it in the fridge to long is that a fridge is too cold and not humid enough for long-term storage of any wine. A few months should be fine though.

As long as it remains there it will remain fresh - providing it is not opened. Once opened it will begin to lose effervescence if you place a spoon in the bottle (handle side in) it helps keep it bubbly. My MIL taught me this trick and it works! Also remember to keep the bottle in a basin of ice and water to keep it chilled while you enjoy your decadent pleasure. Always enjoy champagne with someone else preferable a lover to receive its full benefit (wink-wink).

Look on the label or the cap of the bottle for a "Use by" or "Best Before" date.
