This is a common misconception. You can not do anything to make hair grow faster, but you can definitely make your hair grow healthier. By making your hair healthier, you eliminate the amound of dead, split ends that then have no solution but to be cut, and then obviously you're not getting anywhere with the length of your hair.

Trimming the ends of your hair when they are dead or split will help to maintain the health of your hair, and with continued trims and healthier hair, you can start to go longer and longer between trims. So it does help in the long run, but it is not making your hair grow faster.

Trimming your ends does not make your hair grow faster but it does keep it from breaking which makes it longer. If you don't cut your ends your hair can break off just as fast as it grows, especially if you use chemical treatments and heat. So if your split ends are clipped every 4-6 weeks and you avoid overuse of heat and chemicals, which cause breakage, you should see longer healthier hair over time.

It only appears to grow faster. If you don't trim your hair, it will split and break, and will end up being short anyway.

If you can keep it healthy, it will stay intact, and you will be able to let it grow.
