Yes, massages really helps lower back pain. But find a really good massage therapist who will listen to you and let you be the guide of how deep you want the massage. Swedish works really well and if the therapist also practices Reiki that will help as well. I have had problems with my lower back and legs for a long time and the massage therapist I go to has really assisted me in releiving the pain. Sit in a hot tub or if you have access to hot mineral pools check those out as well. Good Luck

Yes massage help minimize lower back pain.
Other suggestions would be a heating pad, doing safe and regular stretches, and sitting and standing in ways that are good for your posture.
Stress might also be causing some of the lower back pain, and massage is GREAT for reducing stress as well.

I cured my sciatica with this natural treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

I am a massage therapist. It really depends on the cause of the pain. If it is anything soft tissue related it will help but not necessarily solve the problem. i do a lot of therapuetic work and I know from experience that it really does work

Anything which reduces the muscle spasm will help temporarily..You need to find out why you are in need of this help. What is causing the spasticity? Then have the causation treated rather than the symptoms.
The usual thing suggested is usually the last resort for help, by most... that being the doctor of Chiropractic.. This condition is their specialty. .

You need a registered physiotherapist who can do the massage as well as give you exercises and various heat therapies if indicated.

anything that will relax the muscles with help.
A heating pad really works. Careful that you do not burn yourself.
Hope that this helps.
