I can try to defend my beliefs, but from my experience on spaces it's better to ask questions about other's religions than try to go on the offensive. You've always got some atheist getting worked up about Christianity, some christian getting worked up over Islam, and so on.
You've seen it yourself in some of your posts and some of the questions you've answered.People literally get at each other's throats when it's religion or politics on the plate.
I think when it comes to religious discussion, people should be respectful of views, whether atheist, christian,Muslim,Hindu,Buddhist, whatever.I can be very open minded to anything unless it involves America bashing. That's when the Mountain Man goes on the war path.
Another good question Azra. You always make everyone think deeply with your questions. You are a beautiful person inside and out!

My personal beliefs are personal and as such do not really come under attack - I am not part of an organized faith.
I do spend time defending the faith of others and reminding people that none of us has all the answers. I am a big proponent of Live and Let Live - that is to say that I will not interfere with the life and beliefs of another and I hope they would extend me (and the rest of us) the same courtesy. I am all about Unity and Tolerance, these days and when I see those things compromised, I do defend - and yes, I think I am quite good at it.
Peace!

Using the Bible is the best way to explain your beliefs or at least where they come from. Sometimes i use several verses instead of one, so it's easier to show the context. I've also studied encyclopedias and done research on other religions, besides reading history.
I think i do a good job tryping what i know, but as far as changing minds, i don't think so, most people are not easily convinced even with biblical proof and many just come on here to insult and say what they want.

I'm probably not all that good at "defending" my religious beliefs, because I don't feel I need to. It doesn't matter much to me if people don't believe as I do.
On the other hand, I hope that I'm reasonably good at *explaining* them, because a lot of folks have some seriously wrong ideas about Paganism.
One of the things I love best is that in Paganism there is room for others to believe differently, without censure, without being "less than" because they believe differently.
When you look to Nature as a sacred source for understanding the will of the Divine, you can't think that there is only one "right" way.
A daisy isn't better at being a flower than a water lily - each are adapted to their environment. A birch isn't better at being a tree than a date palm; again, each is adapted to it's environment, and each has different methods of reproducing itself. Life has explosive variations, and each one can teach us something.
Knowing this, how could I say that there's only one right way to worship? The Divine force that spins the Earth on it's axis and calls from male to female, light to dark, or positive to negative magnetic fields - this Divine Source is supremely indifferent to what language prayers of thanks are spoken in, or if one stands or kneels or sits while saying those prayers.
******
Sorry, I got a little carried away there. The essence, though, is that I don't have to "defend" my religious practices or beliefs, because when someone believes differently, I understand that this is like a daisy talking to a water lily about the world. What the daisy says about the world (from it's place in it) is true; so also for the water lily.
I will, though, correct misinformation. I will dispel false beliefs about my religion. And I will fight to have the right to practice it, and not have someone else's religion become the law of the land.
***NOTE: the above is subject to certain terms and conditions that may affect its performance, such as mood, amount of sleep, and sense of Perspective/humor. YMMV.

Mother Earth gives you a chance to join the living dance (The Circle), to stand and speak to spread the message change now or learn the lesson.
Creator taught us in the long ago, greed destroys all it touches, and the more you take the more you want when in truth less would serve you better.
The wild children of our Mother hear the calling to come forward, we are being judged how did you defend these brothers?
Did you tell the whole world these are our Elders, you have no right to destroy their homes to build your roads and houses?
It was the plan for all to live together sharing what was freely given, peace between all children two legged, four, finned, and feathered.
Respect, honesty, love, humbleness, and honor these were the lessons they taught us, most of the world has now forgotten.
Fear of these rule the lives of those who have stolen their homes, the wild children are caged or destroyed without feelings.
How can you call yourself human when you care nothing for what is real life, how will you face Creator with the blood of their lives on your hands?
What makes you think you have the right to cut down forests Creator planted, pour concrete on our Mothers skin and not feel her suffer?
Awaken children and listen to your dreams, hear the whispers on the winds prepare yourselves for what is coming;
Before The Creator shakes the mountains loose from their foundations!

Defend? No... Educate.. yes.
There are many times I see postings were part of a scripture is quoted and taken out of context. I think sometimes that the person is aware when they post and just want to stir up trouble.
My concern is about those readers, sitting on the fence, and might make a decision on partial or incomplete information.
Not mine to save the world... but where I can do my small part along with others, we can clarify.

Well if your trying to find out how to defend your religion, i recommend www.irf.net or www.islamtomorrow.com
There are only a handful of questions that people will use to attack you such as Why are women thought of as second class citzens? Why does your God tell you to kill everybody? So on, if they genuinly have a question it's not bad.The above sites answer them all.
But then there are some who just want to attack you and your religion, they people truly fear you whether they know it and there is nothing you can do.

Alhamdulillaah...
I only use information from the Qur'aan and Sunnah [the wa of the Prophet and his companions] and the explanation from the Scholars.
I think I'm doing good, as I try not to say anything negative, if I do i's due to my mood, or anger. Also if I do offend someone else, I apologise.

well i wouldnt consider myself so good at it, but i try. i tell people how islam is because alot of them misunderstand it so much. they hate muslims and focus on them more than anyone else. i try my best to tell them what islam really is and how muslims should behave, because there are muslims out there who disgrace islam very badly. i try my best to educated and defend. just the way i learn about others religion, i think they should do the same instead of critisizing and hating. we should all learn to love one another and understand each other and respect each other, and when we do this world would be a better and safer place. take care. may allah help us and guide us all inshallah. :)

It ain't easy here.It seems a lot of people have little interest in God so at times I have to express my never ending faith.I do so because I am a believer in God the creator and anything that people attribute to him isn't important to me,like whether Jesus is the son or if Jesus is black or white or whether you can where certain clothes etc. Those things to me hinder the process of serving God.I believe in God and that's my main objective in life,to do what I feel is Gods will. It's working for me.
