Personally, I never understood that. Especially for priests. Holy men should have families, not be sexually suppressed and molest little boys. It is a gift from God to have a life partner, and to have children. Men of the cloth should have that blessing and I dont know where chastidy= faith comes from. Never understood it and I thank I found a faith which encourages marraige and discourages being single!

The Apostle Paul said it is better that we didn't have a partner. Not that
there is anything wrong with a man or woman. But simply because having
a partner means we will have to spend too much time trying to please them.
Taking care of the families material needs. And we won't have enough time for our spiritual needs.
