It's just a habit, I don't know where I got it from. Friends make fun of me when I do it, but I really don't care. I like my milk shaken.

Basically it's because you use to have to shake milk before they homogenized it.

I think that it is just a carried over habit from generation to generation.

I shake it at times. I think that when you shake it you add a little air to it & it helps the taste.

I feel as the milk gets older it starts to also seperate & the shakeing mixes it up so you don't have as bad of taste.

The only reason why you would do that is when it's whole milk just from the cow. Then you have to shake it cause the cream settles on the bottom....
Milk from the store doesn't need to be shaken...

milk is a combination of layers of water, butter, fat, and skin, etc when u shake it , it better combines all milks nutrients so you are not drinking just one layer at a time which would taste a little different if you notice. always shake a jug of milk, its better tasting and better for you.

I don't. But people who normally have non-homogenized milk may do it to mix in any cream that's floated to the top. And people who mix up dry milk powder might want to try to get rid of any remaining undissolved bits.

i don't, but if you do it makes me think that you're dealing with an older jug of milk that may need to be shaken to get rid of any curds that have formed?

I do it too, but its just a weird habit that I have, theres no real reason for me to do it. I drink 2 %, I think that I think in my head that it is colder if I shake it.

Because if it is whole milk the cream floats to the top.

I would only do that if it had some type of flavoring such as chocolate that may have settled to the bottom.
