Cat Stevens was not a Muslim when he wrote this song in1970. He didn't read the Koran until his brother gave him a copy if it in 1977.

The original sinner huh? Cute....
Nevertheless.....I'm not sure what song exactly you're talking about, but I used to love Cat Stevens....one of my favourite artists growing up. Well, I still like him, I just don't have the opportunity to listen to his music.
Going on just the lyrics you wrote, I would say "Yes" he's right. It's 'never' too late for anyone to pick up the Good Book....
Give it a try.....being an original sinner, what'dya got to lose?
Oh yeah....you're salvation...! !
Goodaytoyou !

I dont know about when he was a singer but he is a Muslim now. He converted and is teaching Islam through video and song. His Islamic name is Yusef Islam---- formally Cat Stevens. Look it up on the web

Cat Stevens was a hoot. First he was a rock singer, then a sort of holy man. Who know. I enjoyed his music, still do, but remember the 60 Minutes show where he was, well, strange. Not right or wrong, just different.

yes, i would say he was right,,,,,, you must look within yourself, arrive at your own thoughts and opinions, decide what needs to be changed,,, then yes, religious books can give you direction, after you have done the "ground work",,,,,,, to me, this represents not being so influenced by others telling you what to believe, what a book means,,,, how to find goodness etc, but being influenced by yourself.

all religion is bogus

bible, quran, torah= modified versions of the same bullcrap stories just to make their believers feel better. 3 books of lies just to establish order in the existence of these people who had no order in their society, so they created a book and commandments that all must obey and if they dont their souls will be sent to hell. ya sure there.
