Windows Movie Maker is very picky about the format of video you want to import. Some computers come with WINDVD creator installed, which is less picky and easier to use. You can make a video there, then move it to Windows Movie maker. Or buy any movie making product by MAGIX. In fact there is a usable free download for their latest program available on their website. www.magix.com. MAGIX uses virtually any video/movie format known, and is very friendly.
Good luck, and have an awesome day!

What kind of files do you want to import?
Most probably WMM does not support it.
If these are video files, try AVS Video Converter to convert to WMV video format. It's native Windows movie maker one.
The program is very simple:
- download, install and run the program
- open a file or files you want to convert
- click “To WMV” button
- click “Convert Now”
