stereotypes should be banned-

We should be beyond stereotyping and take the trouble to find out what people are really like. BUT, stereotypes exist for a reason. It wouldn't be a stereotype if it wasn't a little bit true somehow.

Frankly this applies to all walks of life, not just religion.

I would have to say stereotyping always holds a modicum of truth somewhere. Howeve, it is never good to generalize and the stereotypical is only more pronounced because it tends to be what we look for with more earnestness. Think outside the box. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt and you may just be surprised with what you see in religion as well as culture.

Yes, there is some truth to stereotypes, but it lays more on an individual rather than the whole. Much like some claiming Wiccans are Fluffy... not all of them are, but they definitely have some Fluffies within the group.

Of course there are many true stereotypes in religions, just as there are in race, creed, color, stupid sexual orientations, etc. If not, comedians would not have material. The stereotypes of being human are true. All cliches and stereotypes have a basis in truth or they would not be popularly passed around. Deal with it!

well as sad as it sounds ...in my own religion Christianity.... the sterotype is that Christians are judgemental and fake... a lot are and a lot aren't .. I just hope that those fake Christians really come clean and come to know the real truth
