Yes. If you are planning to have heathy, live puppies, you might put the dog on puppy food. It will give the dog lots of nutrients that the puppies need. Some times it is more comfortatable for a dog to have her puppies in a familiar place. Good luck with your puppies.

Here's a good site with info on how to prepare an area for your dog to give birth and what the puppies will need. It is definitely better to have your dog inside than outside to have the pups. For one thing, outdoors there are bugs, bad weather at times, other animals, your dog may get into a place where it is hard to get to her. Those are just a few concerns. Definitely bring her in, bathe her carefully and don't put any flea treatments on her that are toxic. Ask a Vet what to use for a pregnant dog.
Here's the site:

she SHOULD have been spayed because you are not knowledgable about breeding.
Why do people not understand. Breeding a dog requires a lot of work and a lot of responsibility. IT is NOT for someone who lets their dog run around, get pregnant by 5 different neighborhood studs and leaves them in the back yard for the duration of their pregnancy. The mother needs vet visits, she needs a whelping box, high quality food, someone to be there in case there are complications....someone who knows what to look for, the puppies needs high quality vet care. And what I've just listed is the BARE MINUMUM care for a dog that is being bred and doesn't include everything that needs to be done.
SPAY your animal if you are not dedicated to being a good breeder and breeding for good, healthy, QUALITYpuppies.

What she needs is a warm, dry, secluded area that is safe for her and the pups. If you are unable to provide this outside then, yes I would bring her in. A lot depends on where you live and the elements. I certainly would find inside shelter for her if you live in the north. Don't wait until the pups are born. Give her at least a week to feel comfortable where she will be.

Yes your dog shouldn't live outside anyways, that is cruel. You need to get her spayed after she has the puppies (shouldn't have let her get pregnant in the first place) and either take better care of her or give her to someone who will. Dogs do not belong outside, they belong in a home with someone who LOVES them.

Yes, use a garage or a special place in the house. Especially in the winter months. In the summer you can keep them outside in a clean separated place from other animal and hazards. Give her plenty of water and a nice warm blanket to lay on.

she probably already has scouted out a place for them to be born. if she has a dog house put extra towels or blankets for her, and the puppies. if it freezes they need to be kept dry, so the dog house needs to be under something to keep it dry.if she finds that the first place she as selected is not safe she will move them to another location.its very important that you keep her and the pups dry. you can buy towels and blankets at the goodwill stores for a very good price.

DUH! For stupid. Your dog should have been spayed as a puppy so that she didn't have puppies in the first place.
You are obviously not a professional breeder, and rearing puppies should be left to reputable and responsible people, who you obviously aren't.
For the dogs sake, I'd take her to a no-kill humane society and surrender her. Hopefully if you ever get another dog you'll have her to the vet and spayed so this doesn't happen.
And dogs should live IN THE HOUSE with their owners. They are family, not garbage to be left in the yard.

It depends, is she house broken, would she even want to be in the house.
We adopted a pregnant stray, she would not come into the house, so we carried her in. She was not happy, so we made her a bed in a large box in the garage, there she was very happy & had her litter...12 of them.
Just see how comfortable she is where ever you decide to put her.
Hope this helps.

You should put her in your car and drive her straight over to your local humane society. You obviously do not know how to take care of her and have already shown yourself to be irresponsible by letting her get pregnant in the first place and then giving her no prenatal care.
