Bar closing are all subject to the local laws where they are located. There are so many different laws relating to bars you would have to check out your local ones to get an answer for the area you live in. But because of liability...bars do close at certain times. If they were to stay open and not serve alcohol there would be angry customers who would want to be served.

It depends on the local ordinances of where the bar is located. Some jurisdictions just have rules saying that they just can't serve alcohol, some say you can't serve alcohol and have to close at a certain time. Other jurisdictions have not time limits at all.

Bars can stay open 24 hours, but last call is usually 2 am and all liquor must be removed from the tables by 2:30 am. Liquor then is usually served starting at 11 am.
