If she has a temperature, she must see a doctor. Lower back pain is usually treated with sit-up exercises. I had a severe problem and was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. After x-ray the therapy was to freeze my back with ice and then do sit-ups. That was over 40 years ago and I still do sit-ups every morning before getting out of bed. Back pain can also be caused by not drinking enough water. Everyone should drink water equal to half weight in ounces ... 120 lbs = 60 ounces. If the pain continues, she should see a doctor.

It is Not her appendix! She has probably strained herself, somehow, even yesterday at school and now after sleeping at night, the pain has set in. Give her a "heating pad" and have her lay down, watch TV - read - or whatever, she doesn't have to stay in bed, but she needs to ly down. The heating pad will help her a great deal, and she should feel some relief. A back pain of any kind, is a doctor's nightmare - it is Hard to diagnose, but you can trust me about this. As long as there is NO associated discomfort in the abdominal region, do what I have suggested. By this evening your daughter should feel much better, if not, you know the answer to that!

Appendicitis is usually manifested as acute abdominal pain and is usually located in the RIGHTt lower portion. It can also be accompanied by a slight increase in temperature (fever), some nausea & vomiting and loss of appetite. They would usually resist having their abdomen touch or palpated and they are likely to stay in one position of comfort. Lower back pain could be due to a urinary infection. It could be accompanied by fever especially if the infection is located in the upper parts of the urinary tract like the kidneys. Other symptoms are pain during urination, chills, and vomiting. Does your child started menstruating? If she has she could be having mittelschemerz.... it sounds complicated but it just really means that she is ovulating. Some persons are prone to it. Some fluids get spilled into the abdominal wall during the release of the egg and causes some kind of reaction. It is benign and goes away on its own without any treatment. Lastly, if it just muscular then she will not be having any other complaints like feeling sick. It will usually be localized. Just trust your instinct as a mom.

Why can't she go to the doc? Go on the internet and look up exercises for the lower back. Get her to do them 3 or 4 times a day and see if there's any improvement. However, be very careful if she gets a fever because it could be a kidney infection. THese can be very dangerous and she would absolutely need to see a doc.

Could be just a pulled muscle. If she is urinating often though, it could be a bladder infection. It's best to see a GP.
