Yes. My aunt and uncle have one. They have four small children aged 2-10. The dog gets along very well with their children.

Most any dog can become a good family dog, if trained correctly.
Both the children and the dog will need to know the rules; each will need to know how to treat the other.

I used the word 'most' because I am still uncertain about one breed of dog, sorry.

We have a shi tzu and we have 4 small kids it is a great dog to have. Our kids are 2 at 6 yrs 1 16 months old and 1 9 months old. The dog is great with them as they are with him. It is a matter of training the dog properly. I am sure you will do just fine.

First of all, it's Shih Tzu.

Anyways, yes. They're great dogs for family. Small, can be picked up, don't shed, good tempered, playful, but can be a little difficult to house break at first. My advice is to get one as a puppy from a registered breeder.
