Rabid colleague?
we were working a project which we had to talk about in class.I just said that our presentation should be better than the group who were rebuked by the teacher for doing a lousy job of it.One of my group members has gone & told the other group about it.Now the group members are trying to get back at me.They keep coughing at the sight of me.They reduce the temperature of the AC wherever I sit and laugh at my discomfort. They are dogging me.

It is difficult to ignore and I am really angry.Since it is non-verbal ,I can't ask them directly.Nobody would believe me either.

Getting angry is what they want you to do. Think about it. What would be the reaction from you they would least want? Get your revenge by giving them what they don't want -- probably to play along, laugh with them and act like their antics don't bother you at all.

The best revenge is living well.

Don't pay much attention to what is happening. Reactions to your statement from every quarter sound quite unreasonable. Concentrate on making a rocking presentation, act too cool for your boots, and show them who's boss when you come up with a presentation that rules the school. Ignoring might not seem to help now, but it definitely will, and it will all be over before you know it.

No, I think you should confront them. You don't have to say, "You're coughing at me all the time!" You say something like, "I feel like we're not getting along as well as we could. Do we have something we need to discuss?"

You might also talk to the teacher (absolutely privately!!!) and ask him/her for his/her ideas about this problem. Ask for strict confidentiality, and stress that you don't want the teacher to punish the other group (it would probably boomerang back on you) -- that you just want ideas for dealing with it.

Or maybe you could keep trying to "ignore" it -- when they cough, offer them a cough drop. Kill 'em with kindness. Hopefully, in a year or two, they'll either have grown up or moved on.

i think this just has 2 be taken as somethin th@ happens, u obviously didnt mean 2 offend and their reaction is because they're embarassed about what happened.

the most enlightened thing 2 do is evade the pyschological attacks by realisin what's actually goin on: they're reactin this way b'cos they're embarassed

as 4 the AC stuff, u can either just stomach it till they get sick of it or ask whoever's in charge (teacher,...) if u can put the AC back up cos it seems some1's put it down.

=)

Bring a big sweater and LEARN from this mistake. We don't have to say everything we think and we should be careful how we put the things we do say. That is all you can do. These people are immature and nit-picky. Good luck!

why dont you all have a mature conversation and maybe speak to your group member about why he/she went and did this. Technically you didnt do anything wrong, So you wanted to do good in class, who doesnt?? the other group bombed in their presentation doesnt mean you had to. It will boil over., good luck

tell them straight up " dude , your project SUCKED - even the teacher said so " . and laugh at them out loud in front of everyone. or " you can do what you want to me, but your project still sucked big time and you can't change that now"

Wear cooler clothing and bring one of those little battery operated fans! Laugh, and the whole world laughs with you.

my first choice is to talk to the teacher....
or you could talk to the other students who are doing it....
or bring a sweater to class and just deal

Just try to outlast their immaturity....they have safety in numbers. I know it's easy to say to ignore them, but they can't get their jollies unless you react.
