Buddhism originated in India and then spread all over Asia due to trading and immigration of people. As it gets stronger elsewhere it has become less prevalent in India.

It is said the next upsurge of Buddhism will come in the West. I think that is true.

It really makes me angry when I see non-natives on Facebook, for example, put their religion as Buddhism. Or just people saying they're Buddhists because they believe in peace and whatnot. First of all, they probably don't even PRACTICE Buddhism. They think it's some kind of popular trend going on. There's way more history to Buddhism than that. I am a Buddhist by blood. I am Nepali and I was born in Nepal, and my family is Buddhist. I'm not saying that anyone who is not from Asia shouldn't be Buddhist. That's not what I'm saying at all. I just mean that they shouldn't officially call themselves that if they don't even know what it truly means.
