I get beer pumpclips with flashing led lights on. they are normally powered from an AA battery.

I guess it depends on how many LEDs you want to run off the 12Volt battery, but yes you can, you can even run 1 or 2 off of a little 1.5Volt battery, like the ones you put in a handheld radio, Just use a resistor or you'll blow them up with too much current. for running one or two off of a 12Volt battery, a 1K resistor would probably do the job just fine.
Oh and you can uy LEDs that flash on their own, or you can build your own circuits to make them flash in a certain pattern, for example a chase pattern.
If you're American go to Radio Shack, if you're English, go to Maplin or somewhere like that. And if you don't live in either country, then good luck in whatever country you are in lol.

Yes, you'll need a resistor to limit the current for any led application, and if you look at radio shack you'll find LEDs that have the circuit built in to them to flash by themselves... they will also have small inexpensive books to show you how to build special flashing circuits if you want. have fun.

Yes, certainly.
You will have to use an IC555, configured as Astable Multivibrator. Please refer to IC555 user manual to know this configuration. You will need correct power supply input, and current limiting resistors.
