Yes, the rules have to be obeyed by all. How can any reasonable person give citizenship to one group who flagrantly defied the rules to enter a country, then restrict those who have the decency to go by the book? All you are doing there is rewarding the criminal. Besides being utterly irrational it isn't too slick a way of discouraging crime of any sort and illegal entry is not a crime we want to encourage.
You'll notice I don't say illegal immigration. Those people who come here illegally are not immigrants, they are criminal trespassers

Of course, don't you just hate it when playing monopoly, and on your bathroom break, another player takes money from the bank, and slips it into his pile, or puts an extra house on his property? That's called cheating.
Or when you play cards, and the dealer stacks the deck, and slips you the 2 when the top card was an Ace?
Or when playing the game Sorry, (there are 3 blank cards given in the deck, for spliter's, to keep the cards nice ) and your opponent writes his own rules on those cards and puts them in the deck.
Come on! There are NO real winner's if the game isn't played the way the rules direct, and it's the same for life, NO RULES, you end up with a mess, and Charlie the Cheater always wins the game. Makes me think of Congress and the mess they're making now, by not following the law, which are rules.

The law is the law and it should be followed. I know many legal immigrants (some still waiting, some who have become citizens) who followed the law and I am proud to count them as friends. Every time I hear the whining about illegal aliens hurting the economy if they are made to follow the law, or how racist it is to quote "persecute" these people, I think of what a disservice it is to legal immigrants who spent years and large sums of money in their quest to become citizens of the United States.. There are changes that we can make in immigration law that could be beneficial to all, but just giving in to the line jumpers is not an acceptable solution.

Absolutely, but our government is so corrupt only middle-class Americans need to learn the rules...the rich (big business) pays our federal officials enough money that they or the illegal aliens are exempt from following our immigration laws!

Yes. If the rules only apply to some, then what good are they?

Yes. The old saying, "Cheaters never win, and winners never cheat," is true.
