Growing up in Britain it seems that we are always told that the Special Air and Boat Service are the best in the world. What do people from other countries think, do you acknowledge this?

If British society doesn't feel that way about their Special Forces, the military there had better do something to change their image,, and do it fast!!

Just like there, here in the US if we didn't feel the same way about our Special Forces,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, see where I'm comming from????

In reality Special Forces - Special Opps is nothing more than matching the properly trained individuals to the mission requirements. Send in the Special Forces troops with the wrong set of skills, and you might just as well of sent in the Cub Scouts. Doesn't matter what country they are from.
If you need an individual on the ground that speeks Korean, there is little to be gained by sending someone in that speeks Aribic.

Delta Force was founded on the SAS and sometimes we traine with the militaries of other countries. Recently russian airborne troops trained in colorado in the United States. It is believable that british special forces train US special forces, but I have not heard of any recent training exercises. The US navy seals have turned to the Israeli Commandos for help in the past. The US military has not been alone when it needs training in the past ,and is likely to train with other countries armed forces in the future. The SAS is probably the most elite special forces unit in the world. Sometimes exchange officers are used to take back experiences from one countries military ,and bring back some eperiences to the country. One time a brazilian soldier trained at a US sniper school and brought back thoose experiences and techniques to Brazil. The spetsnaz at one time trained with chinese special forces. The US military sent some soldiers to dijbouti a while back to train on the french foreign legion obstacle course.

Even in the US the Special Air Service is regarded as the very best. There are other groups in close competition but the SAS stand out.

The Forces are an inclusive and formidable assortment of many skills and services and one that relies on two or more of these to operate at all.
As for who goes in first is a different choice made according to operating conditions and objectives.
No single unit is better than another although some are more expensively trained than others.
As for bravery? All are brave since all overcome a fear that is personal to them.
No country's forces are better than another since all fight for the same reason
To defend their own country
War is sometimes necessary but never to the benefit of anyone in the end. Often the winner becomes the looser and most certainly mankind is always on the loosing side.
It sounds disgusting but it is the Politics of a loosing State.
PS You will find the first group to draw fire will never be the most expensively trained ones. Usually the Royal Engineers.

British, US and Isreal are easily the top three. There jobs are all just a little bit different. So, it almost turns into apples and oranges. I'm just glad they are all on our side. None better.

Of course British Special Forces are not the best. Would you really expect the government to admit this? No, they will just keep pushing their propaganda pap for a willing audience of small boys and low IQ 'patriots' to believe.
In fact, British special forces are really pretty awful.
