In a word, no! Unless she is a full-time student, and you own the car, which would then be registered to your home address. She would apply for student status with NY. If she takes a summer job, chances are the car would then have to be insured in her name in NY, though.

It is better to be safe, and ask your agent, since the "laws" of each State differ. Not too mention that Ins. Co's are in business to make and keep money that they receive for monthly premiums.
Since you are in SC and She will be in NYC, you may have to "tack" on some-sort of "Rider" program for your daughter, like Her going to school in NYC....
Your agent will know about your policy and His company "rules" about what types and how much coverage will protect you and your daughter, in the event of an accident!
You sure as "Heck" don't want to be "sued" along with your Daughter, over a traffic accident; You know how "sue-happy" these "B**bs" are, these days??
Besides, asking your agent is free, and could save you many "headaches" down the road...
Good Luck!!

if she is a member of your household and going to school or college then yes she can be covered on your auto policy
but if the parents are divorced and she lives with one parent in NY and you, the other parent, live in SC then no, you cannot do this

you insure vehicles (and rentals) not the person. If she lives apart from you and operates a vehicle not on your policy she is not covered.
