CORRECT ANSWER - READ: What you have is "pleurisy". This is associated with "pneumonia". Pleurisy left unattended, and it usually starts with a cold with a heavy cough. Left unchecked, it will turn to pneumonia. The pain is coming from your "lung" - the back muscles are sympathetic. See your doctor immediately, have your LUNGS sounded, the sooner the better, an antibiotic will clear this. If you leave this unattended you will become very ill, loose a lot of time from work and be prone to chest infections for the next several winters. Follow my advise, and see your doctor.

Could be as simple as a rib rotated out of position.. allowing for some inflammatory process to set in. This can be determined just by taking in a very deep breath and seeing if it is stopped midway by pain. If not, you may want to have a chest x-ray to determine if there is something a bit more severe.
At any rate, both procedures can be accomplished and treated by your local doctor of Chiropractic. If complications show, he will refer you to appropriate doctor for follow up.

GO TO YOUR GP, this could be many things but when you have a persistent pain that will not go away you need to get it checked. Does it hurt when you press there? It could just be a pulled muscle they take weeks to heal.

Hey ok, so i dance almost everyday... and i get back pains alot. depending on how long youve had it, different streches do different things. for example if the pain is in your lower back, get onto the ground and do a strech were you sit on your knees and you push back so you kinda look like a egg.
If the pain is in the upper part of your back, do this strech... (lay stomach side on the ground and slowly push your front part of your baody up. leaving your legs on the ground. (kinda like in the little mermaid movie) and you can also tilt your head back.)
The last on i have is like this

Kidney. Try drinking more water! Honest. I had that problem, and the pain goes away if I keep my system irrigated with water. Cut down on the cokes, etc.

It is an indication that there is some problem in your lung, heart, liver or stomach. If you suffer from acidity, cough, anger or any heart problem it confirms; otherwise patient examination is necessary.
