Serious answers only please. Do not answer if you do not answer hypothetical questions or if you're answer is going to something like "I know God exists" or "It's obvious that God doesn't exist".

As for "why?", an example answer would be something like "because then I'd have to follow God's law" or "because I'd feel that life was meaningless".

Thanks for your input,
Derek

I'm not talking about a specific religion. "I would have to follow God's law" was just an example. I'm not asking what religion you would become -- I'm asking would you want to know and why.

"I know He exists" but apparently you do not know how to read. Next time read the details before you answer.

If God is real, I really want to know Him personally of course...that I may know how to talk, converse, ask questions of His activities, plans for the furture, ask His guidance Himself, whether He is impressed of what I have done, other people, the world...I want to be His best friend because He has the only best heart, best able miracle, how he made a person alive from the soil, what He saw (why try to make human when He see it to be evil later on), I want to know how he sees one done everything when there are billions of human in this world, how he knows and counted all the hair of one human and grains of sands on earth...why He remain good inspite of evil world, why He still try to save people inspite of their betrayal and evilness (He had so many angels, why add more.), etc.etc.etc.

Look at an object for a moment.

Close your eyes and imagine that object.

Did you know that when you look at an object or imagine it, the exact same areas of the brain fire? With that in mind, what is real and what is not? Your brain can't tell the difference. Further,

Who is the observer? Who are you? What is your consciousness? Consequently, who is the observer?

God is real and is a part of our very being. Looking outward towards a retributive god, is infantile, ancient, counterproductive logic. Looking inside, you discover the mystery. You can't explain it but there it is.

My life is far from meaningless. I understand the relationship between life and the divine impetus.

Have a wonder-full day!

Derek,
God is very real, and so is His love for us. We are not to question God, but be obedient to Him and His word. We are to study His word so He can give us wisdom and understanding that will help us get through the world that we live in.

God will not mislead anyone or not keep His promises to us. You can take what He promises us all the way to the ends of the earth. I dont' believe in hypotheticals or what if's. I believe and live according to the true word of the Almighty God. Praise the Lord!!

God bless you.

If he exists, I'd certainly want to know. I'd love someone who has my best interests at heart to tell me the proper way to live. Or if there was an evil god, I'd want to know that, too, so I'd know to appease him. Just the same, presidents, kings and dictators, make public appearances to show the people they're still in power, so why doesn't god?

for a long time I didn't care one way or the other. Then this happened.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother

"Knowing yourself" than only you will be able find the path to the God and the question of whether God exist or not, will rely on how pure your heart is. Once your heart is pure you will never doubt about God's existence.

Because belief in God is the opiate of the masses. And it has risen into a $3 billion dollar a year business.

I would want to know but even if God existed, I still wouldn't turn to Christianity or any other religion. I have my own beliefs and values that God probrably wouldn't like. If he didn't my life would still be the same.
