i'm checking with my dad he is a Farrier and horse trainer. Plus he's always had horses. i'm also calling my grandfather he owns a feed store. its 8:30 give me 30 min. i'll let you know.

OK here's what my dad said:
Normally where we're from in Texas (horse and cattle country) here are the breakdowns of how the feeding is done.
Oh by the way we use pounds in the USA so here is the conversion. 1 Kilogram = 2.2 Pounds

3 lbs of grain in the norning and 3 lbs of grain at night. so your 3 kg would equal 6.6 lbs. So that part is definetely good. i asked him what was a healthy amount and he said it sounds like from your post you know what you're doing. He said a lot of clients he sees overfeeds their horses on grain.

Now on the hay or grass you feed him 10 kg which equals about 22 lbs. He said people normally feed 15 lbs. But that's because hay is somewhat expensive here. He said if you can afford the 10 kg that's even better!

OK my grandfather said if your horse is not very active then you can feed him about 9 or 4.5 kg to 10 lbs or 5.5 kg of hay. but if he is extremely active. in example a work horse, trail driving horse, race horse, ridden a lot, etc. then 22 lbs or 10 kg is a good amount.

this is going on a 1000 lb or 453.59 kg horse

I agree with Heather, but I would cut grain first if you horse is not very active, not hay. Provided of cour that there are no deficenies in your horses hay and the horse has acsess to salt.

Don't worry if your horse doesn't eat all his hay. Just keep offering it to him, and he will eat it when he wants it (assuming he's not crammped for time) But I would cut back his grain or break it up into more feedings.
