my computer is telling me my scanner engine is not up to date, can anyone give me step by step advise to put this right? thanx for your help.

go to the website and use update for your scanner. it should have a designated site in the program information files telling you where to go for support.

You might have to go to the website of the scanner and problem solve while your there check for updates!

Sounds like your driver needs updating - on the scanner icon right click and choose update driver or if you can't find it that way go to control panel - system - device manger - scanner and right click, again choose update driver and see if that helps.
if no luck try un-installing and then re-installing the scanner

hmm maybe look for the driver on the site that makes the scanner? i think when you say engine you mean the driver, so figure out who makes the scanner and go to their site and look for the right drive to install for your harware.
