For the most part we were a disaster. I don't deny that... we kept it up for as long as possible but at the end of the day, it just isn't meant to be. I know that and because of it haven't responded to any of his messages lately. But I still miss him and feel so sad about it all. I try to focus on other things and keep busy, I have been spending loads of time at the gym and with my friends. Seems not to matter, I just miss him. Any ideas on how to move on? (Oh and I should just point out I don't really want to meet anyone new right away. I'm just not really ready yet...)

Gosh Tia, you are going thru the same feelings everyone goes thru after a breakup. We go thru sadness, madness, grieving, all the same emotions as when a close friend dies.

None of us like to face failure either; and that's what we relate to in such a situation. So don't let your mind rush your emotions. And if you know it's done, then so be it.

Normally, I would say the best way to get over someone is to find someone new. But since you nixed that already, try this:

1. Spend an hour a day at the library
2. Help someone every day
3. Volunteer a few hours on the weekend for a worthy cause
4. Honor your parents
5. Continue to spend time at the gym, but do some real exercise while there
6. Eat right and healthy
7. Sign up for group dance lessons.

Good Luck

They say when we break up that you go through a withdrawal and chocolate is a good substitute. If that doesn't work, continue to throw yourself into your hobbies, or take up a new one, work at a soup kitchen or the YWCA. Something to distract you until find that it doesn't hurt so bad. Whatever you do, keep busy. Its the quiet moments when you think about it the most. Go out and try to have some fun!!! Focus on something or someone else. Charity work.

Think of nothing but the pain and humiliation you felt which led to the breakup and then get angry.
That'll change your perspective.
Add that together with the knowledge that you deserve someone who will love and cherish you.

You need to remember the reasons why your no longer with him. Instead of focusing on the good times you had with him, you need to remember the bad times and why your nolonger with him.
