a virgin is a guy or a girl who has not had sex. You will sometime hear about "born again" virgins, these are people who have had sex but for one reason or another have decided not to any more and are generally waiting until they marry.
As for not having sex before marriage (which happens to be something that i agree with) this is everyones own choice. these days it is not frowned upon as much as it was in the past if you do have sex before marriage. By waiting, it does not neccasarily mean that you are religious.Most people put it down to religion due to the fact that the bible says that you should wait until marriage and then you and your partner will become one and this will create a bond between you.
on the more secular side of the argument alot of people these days wait due to the risks that come in the form of STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

I don't think it's wise to be a virgin at marriage. I know a lot of guys want their brides to be virgins, but I don't know why... don't you want to find out first how good you are together in bed?

Depends on how religious you are.
I see sex as one of the greatest way to show affection and love though, and marriage as nothing but a piece of paper confirming the love you share between one another.
So yeah, all up to you really. :)
Oh and ps. A virgin = someone who haven't had sex yet.
