Are the prayers rote repetitions, similar to the Christian "Lord's Prayer," or are they individual supplications to God?

I did a research on this ... if you want the paper.. email me.. and i will send the complete paper to you.. but below is a summarry or you can check out the 2 websites

Fajr (pre-dawn): This prayer starts off the day with the remembrance of God; it is performed before sunrise.

Dhuhr (noon): After the day's work has begun, one breaks shortly after noon to again remember God and seek His guidance.

'Asr (afternoon): In the late afternoon, people are usually busy wrapping up the day's work, getting kids home from school, etc. It is an important time to take a few minutes to remember God and the greater meaning of our lives.

Maghrib (sunset): Just after the sun goes down, Muslims remember God again as the day begins to come to a close.

'Isha (evening): Before retiring for the night, Muslims again take time to remember God's presence, guidance, mercy, and forgiveness.

My mother always told me when I was a kid that I had to pray 5 times in a day ,I just asked her the similar question and she answerd me "you don't have to pray 5 times in a day if you don't like ,but don't you like to talk to God 5 times in a day?"
Do you know what I mean?We enjoy praying 5 times because we feel we do it with all passion to have a very private and nice conversation with God .That just gives us a very good feeling God doesnt need us to pray to him ,we need to pray to him and it's different than supplicating !

Prayer is very special, as it represents the relation between the individual and his creator, the pivot of life. The prayer times are also related to the manners and times of rest in the social life.
it is so important to muslims, as
When one stands up in prayer, one begins with ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is Great), raising one’s hands (at least shoulder high), facing the Ka’aba (the direction for Muslims to pray) and entering the state of prayer. It is as if we are saying goodbye to the physical world and ‘entering’ the spiritual world, dwelling in the presence of Allah. It is as if we are entering into the Court of the Greatest Authority, King of Kings and Lord of the universe.

Another important anchor in prayers is ruku’ (kneeling):

We bend down in respect in front of Him. See the personal relationship, how intimate it is? Then we say: ‘Subhana rabbi al-‘Adheem’ (glory to my Lord, the worthy of respect).

Then, we straighten up and then we go down on our knees and put our foreheads on the dusty ground, in complete submission and humility saying: ‘Subhana rabbi al-A’la’ (glory to My Lord, the Most High). While our position, with our head down on earth, is as low as we can make it, our spirit is at it’s sublime height, in front of the Most High!

this is the meaning of the prayer , yes it is the same act but we should do it with our hearts not our tongue, it strenghthens our relation to god, it is arelation between the indidual and god.

wish my answer helped.

peace.
