For every story of a "loving God" having miraculously saved some poor soul I can probably find ten true stories of OUTRIGHT innocent humans, men, women and children suffering a terrible injustice, these horrors(physical and not) sometimes beyond belief. I can accept anyone's belief in some divine force...but don't call it "loving".
"Faith" should not turn someone into a stupid human.

tbillls, people like me don't torture you..it's your irrational beliefs that trouble the thinking side of your brain.

All most everyone is missing the point: What does a "Loving God" have in mind by allowing, for example, (true stroy) a little girl being raped, tortured and then buried ALIVE!!..What twisted set of Logic allows a "Loving God" to get away with that, in the mind of a believer?..Damn , think!!

At least say you don't Know why a "loving God" would allow such conduct and I could respect your thinking.

If "God" doesn't rule over this world then he doesn't rule over ALL the universe and so is not a REAL "God" after all.

Patricia, you're probably a very nice lady and I have no reason to be mean spirited: but can't you see that a "loving God" who allows Satan, of all things, to rule his world is no "loving God"?? What parent would subject his children to such cruelty??
On earth, we would take a parent like that and lock him away for life!..Your brain works OK, now use it..Or does your "God" define "love" differently than we on earth?
Got to be one or the other: either he's a "loving God" or just plain "God"

Tony you live in a temporary world that ends in your destruction. If all that you accomplish becomes dust what meaning is there to it?Considering there are none left to even remember. If God is evil than eat drink and be merry because he created you for destruction. A loving God would be the one that offered himself in your behalf and for you who are unworthy he offered himself as a sacrifice. Not for your mortal flesh which perishes but for an eternal soul that lives forever in paradise. It is your choice to choose life none the less. If God righteously chose to condemn the evil that you are in your sin it would be righteous he is not taking anything that he has not given to you. Yet by his choice he has chose to offer himself as a sacrifice for you. The best that any man has on his on without God is a millisecond of eternity which in the end equals to nothing.

On what basis do you come to the conclusion that God is responsible for the terrible injustice you described. Every problem of this world arises from the fall and evil of man. God has to allow the consequences that follow from man's desire to be independent of God to run its course for the appointed time. God does not want these things to happen and has to withhold doing anything so as to be true to His promises and principles. God is also a God of justice besides love. In the meantime God has chosen and empowered His people, the Christians, to help overcome the evil and sufferings of the world on His behalf. God as a Spirit works through His people to intervene in the world as His body. So God is not doing nothing. The more Christians there are the more help is available when God can use them.

One might ask why we should not expect god to be at least as reasonable and compassionate as the average person? Take a simple scenario that was given to me on a yahoo group: You are in the kitchen. You see a toddler headed towards a stove where a pot of oil bubbles away furiously. He reaches up... do you sit there and watch him do grievous harm to himself when he pulls it down, thinking pain, fear, scarring or death are just rewards for wanting to know? Or do you get up and pull him to safety? This is a good one. Where’s god;s warning when people are nearing unknown but certain danger? Here are my ideas: First, it is possible that the value system that is placed on this equation is meaningless in relation to some HIGHER PURPOSE? Perhaps the history of death and pain and suffering is a spit in the pan compared to what the ultimate goal is? Does a mother focus on the pain of child birth when she first holds her infant in her arms? Or is she elated with the result such that the pain becomes meaningless? Chaos, pain and suffering are inherent propensities in this system, but in the evolution of biology toward man they were certainly necessary components of the equation. Unlike the animal, whose pain is a conditioned response mechanism, man (now conscious) has an understanding of these things. He understands pain, suffering, mortality. Now he must suffer the consequences of that knowledge. But given the loftier goal of creating new personalities, perhaps the awareness of the chaotic nature of our environment and the pain and suffering and death we know in our conscious states is well worth attainment of another goal? In other words, maybe the means justify the end. Quite possibly not even the intervention by God would change the final outcomes. Secondly, this scenario assumes god can intervene. I believe god is just another word for perfection or morality and that saying that god could grab the infant or give him some warning is the same as saying your morality could grab the infant and save him. You (being moral or godly) want to save him because you have god (morality) within you.

I consider you that a loving God who tortures is a contradiction in words. After careful learn, I even have discovered that the writer is definitely a loving God. subsequently, there could be a compelling clarification for his waiting to intervene to stop such wickedness and suffering. isn't it authentic that loving dad and mom will enable their baby to undergo a painful operation to treatment an ailment or ailment of a few variety? it particularly is painful for the baby. And it particularly is painful for the dad and mom. yet afterwards, the baby is benefited. it particularly is comparable with the authentic God. it particularly is painful for Him to work out his human infants go through plenty yet there's a compelling clarification for him to refrain from intervening on the "2d." it particularly is barely that maximum human beings have not been taught that compelling reason. yet whilst it particularly is over, oh how benefitted mankind would be! God created man with free will having the ability to do good or evil. As a result there is no assurance that man will not choose to do evil. There is no contradiction with the existence of both God and evil. It is logically impossible for God to create free creatures and guarantee that they will never do evil. Among the infinite number of possibilities in an infinite number of possible worlds, God could have chosen a less evil, (or less free) world, yet if man is truly free, God can not stop evil. It would be impossible or illogical for God, who is an all- powerful, omnipotent being, to have created a world in which he controlled the evilness or freeness, for this would remove the gift of free will that he had given to man. The existence of free will without evil is an illogical impossibility. Even though man has the capacity to commit great evil, he also has the capacity to perform great acts of goodness.

God does not eliminate first order evil such as pain because it is a logically necessary component for goods such as sympathy. God could have eliminated second order evils such as cruelty, but to do so would remove freedom of will. If God intervened in every evil, it would erode human responsibility, and the laws of nature.

The suffering of the innocents has been a tragedy since the fall of Adam. God never wanted this for us - so asked us to leave the tree alone. Yet, he didn't want puppets so gave us free will. We chose evil. Many choose to blame God. God is Good and will ultimately destroy evil and allow those who trust in the Christ to live eternally with no suffering, sadness or death. Those who choose not to take the blood of Christ to cover their sins will be permitted to live without God for all eternity. God bless you as you seek the Truth. ~Nise~

I am going to say it again why is it so easy to blame God.WHY aren't you blaming the one Who is accountable for such acts.SATAN..An Evil force dose this not God...You can blame but don't blame our God for such malice..Satan is the one that has you talking like this not God. And you will see one day...I know that this is not a spirit of anything good..If it is of any wrong involved it is of Satan all wrong points right to Satan not God...But when you are a person that has to go through to understand and still blames God...Then their is no telling what it is you will have to see to quit blaming God.So get ready for what ever it is that you are having to learn. Because if you think that Slandering God will teach you then you are wrong...You are a stupid Human And a very confused one...It is Satan that you follow not the loving God that I serve...God bless us all..And may His grace come to you through something Davine...Instead of Satan's ways of thinking....

God is not ruling this world. The bible tells us at 1john 5:19, that the devil is the ruler of this world. We know that , from bible prophecy,we are living in what is called the last days. This is the last days of this way of life before Jehovah God will step in and will end the wickedness that we see daily. He is a loving God, but he is also a god of justice. He will not allow these horrors to continue indefinately.

You can certainly see the problem, but you are totally blind to the solution. If you can see "OUTRIGHT innocent humans, men, women and children suffering a terrible injustice, these horrors(physical and not) sometimes beyond belief" then why won't you accept God's solution of sending Jesus Christ to save us and "deliver us out of this present evil age." I think you are highly deceived if you think the world is going to change and all of a sudden become a utopia.

Yes. He tortures me everyday with people like you who can't seem to live with what I've chosen to believe. Go believe something that makes you happy and leave me alone. Then we'll both be happy. Everybody wins!
